Here Is A Simple Explanation appeared first on Cyfuture Blog.

]]>
These days, living without the internet is unimaginable for people, especially ones that belong to ‘Generation Z.’ This is mainly because the internet has become the source that enables you to do several things like banking, shopping, etc. without leaving your comfort zone.

With time, the internet of things (IoT) has become a buzzword, so I wanted to learn its meaning but found some complex technical definitions, unfortunately. Ergo, I dug in further with the purpose of finding a simple explanation on IoT. Guess what, I succeeded in my goal … Now, I am going to share the gathered information with my readers just as a goodwill gesture. So, let’s roll:

The cost of broadband internet has reduced significantly, compared to charges a few years ago. In this day and age, most of the devices come with in-built Wi-Fi capabilities, which signals an enhanced level of internet connectivity. This sets a perfect platform for IoT.

Simple Explanation of Internet of Things (IoT)?

To put it simply, things that can be connected to the internet are IoT (internet of things). In order to read this post, you must have some device, be it a desktop, smartphone, or tablet connected to the internet, right? This is what IoT does means: make things simple for you. It is the best possible example of IoT which I can give you right now!

Smart TVs, Fitbits etc. are one of the most common real-life internet of things examples. There is a great possibility of more appliances and wearables to come to the market in the near future and take the current level of IoT to the next one.

I have rounded up some interesting statistics on IoT that will definitely act as an eye-opener for you, so pay heed:

  • There were around 15.4 billion connected devices in 2015, and this number will reach 26 billion in 2020, revealed by none than Gartner. And Intel’s projection says there will be 200 billion connected devices by 2020.
  • The demand for wearable devices will skyrocket in the future. In 2016, 28.3 million units were sold, and 82.5 million units will be sold by 2020. This is what IDC reports have revealed.
  • According to IDC, spending on the IoT across markets will reach $1.29 trillion by 2020.
  • As per General Electric, by 2030, IoT will improve worldwide GDP growth by adding $10 to $15 trillion.
  • On the word of ACT, the health care market will witness drastic changes owing to IoT, as there will be $117 billion worth of connected devices in 2020.

Does IoT Really Matter?

As I have already said, IoT is just making our life superb. When some device is connected to the internet, there is a process of information sharing takes places, which promises amazing outcomes.

Here, smartphones are a vivid example, as they ensure you can do certain tasks with perfection.

For instance, if you want to listen to a song which isn’t stored on your smartphone, what will you do? Go online and search for that particular song, right? Here, you need to pay more attention to understand the salience of IoT — when your smartphone is powered by the internet, it sends some info related to the song you want to listen to, and receives all the data to play your desired music. All this happens within a couple of seconds. And this is IoT for you, mate!

There is a likelihood many fabulous things will happen in the future due to IoT. Say, for example, your alarm clock will wake you up and send a signal to your coffee maker to brew coffee for you. It sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

In smart cities, IoT can do wonders like reducing the percentage of waste, suppressing the excessive consumption of electricity, and so on. This cannot be taken lightly because the city of Barcelona saves 37 million dollars a year owing to smart lighting, which is one of the major spinoffs of IoT.

IoT (internet of things) devices have transformed our lives tremendously. IoT has a long way to go, as this tech promises many things like smart homes and offices. This tech-force has the potential to turn fanciful things into real ones.

These days, the automobile industry is investing so much time and money in contemplation of showing customers/car lovers what is coming ahead.

Today, IoT enables drivers to assess engine performance, manage air temperature, etc. The involvement of applications of IoT is going to increase in the automotive sector.

According to one recent report, the number of connected cars will hit the 300 million mark by 2025. Another report says, by 2023, the global automotive IoT market will reach USD 106.32 billion. If these reports are to be believed, it should be safe to say that IoT is going to make a very big statement.

Another thing that falls into place, with regard to IoT in the automobile sector, is high-speed mobile networks like 5G which are going to be introduced really soon, which means drivers are likely to have a whale of a time.

IoT is already showing us a glimpse of the future. Here are some of its interesting applications:

1. Amazing infotainment system

The thing that makes the driving experience pleasant is ‘high-tech infotainment system’. With IoT, automobile companies are aiming to come up with fantastic infotainment systems. For the same, Google has already partnered with many automakers to deploy its apps like Google Maps, Google Assistant, etc. into the infotainment system of newly manufactured cars. Same goes for Apple.

Through IoT enabled infotainment system, drivers can get real-time traffic reports and trip reports easily. Plus, speech to text functionality also helps drivers to give a response to incoming messages without being distracted while driving, and this dwindles the odds of accidents.

It is also being said that cars coming in the near future will be equipped with better telematics solutions, which as a positive corollary, uplift the driving experience.

2. Predictive maintenance technology to prevent expensive repairs

Another amazing application of IoT is, ‘Predictive maintenance technology’. Due to this, car owners can avert expensive repairs easily. Thanks to IoT connectivity tools, predictive maintenance technology collects data on how different parts of a car are performing and then transfers it to the cloud.

After that, the chances of malfunctioning with respect to the car’s hardware or software are evaluated. In case some sort of fault is found, a notification is sent to the driver regarding necessary service or repair in order to pre-empt mishaps.

By virtue of IoT connectivity tools, all the hassles which breakdowns can possibly cause can be skipped.

3. IoT-enabled updates for smooth and safe driving

One thing that can be seen clearly is that cars have become software- and data-centric. To make sure that drivers don’t face any hassle during the ride, it is significant to provide periodic updates. The salience of this factor shouldn’t be underestimated, for instance, if you don’t get software updates on your smartphone, there is a likelihood you can encounter issues related to security, performance, or anything unexpected. Likewise, if your car doesn’t get timely software updates, some unexpected problems can happen.

These days, automobile companies can heave a sigh of relief as they can send IoT-enabled updates, which can easily upgrade cars’ software, fix hidden bugs, update new routes in installed maps, and so forth. As a positive consequence, car owners get a smooth and safe driving experience.

Sending over-the-air (OTA) software updates is extremely important, as far as customer satisfaction is concerned. If industry reports are anything to go by, more than 10 million lines of critical software codes are what today’s cars are based on. This should be enough to understand why updates powered by the internet of things are important.

Summing-up:

IoT definitely has the potential to revolutionize the automobile industry, and its applications are doing wonders already. We have just scratched the surface of how important IoT applications are in the automotive sector.

There is a high possibility that we will see the magic of IoT applications on a large scale in the near future. Currently, big companies like Jaguar, Audi, Nissan, etc. are offering ‘Connected cars’. But that time is not too far when connected cars won’t be rare anymore.

Due to high economic benefits and customer acceptance, more and more automobile companies are showing interest in internet of things (IoT).

And it would be exciting to see how automotive brands like Tesla offer IoT-powered cars at a budget-friendly price, isn’t it?

Much thanks for reading!

Good content always gets appreciation, but these days its demand is on the peak. This is so because content marketing is one of the non-perishable techniques that can help businesses to mark their online presence.

However, writing something that connects with the readers isn’t a cakewalk. Either you have to bring a team of content writers (who also have good knowledge of SEO) or dedicate long hours to write something engaging by yourself. These two options consume money and time respectively.

Here, one question that suggests itself — ‘What can be done if a lot of content is required in a short time span?’ Sounds like a valid question, right? Well, this is where the salience of artificial intelligence snowballs.

By means of artificial intelligence, operations related to content discovery, writing, editing, content distribution, etc. can easily be automated.

Thanks to social media platforms, Netflix, Google, Microsoft, etc., artificial intelligence has become a part of our life, however, we’ve barely noticed it.

Want to see a brighter picture? Well, results generated by search engines, shopping-related suggestions on e-commerce platforms, Netflix’s recommendations regarding TV series, etc. all these are the result of artificial intelligence.

Before we get distracted too much from the topic, I think we should start discussing the top 5 applications of artificial intelligence that can help to build a fabulous content strategy. So, let’s begin:

1. HubSpot Content Strategy Tool

This tool leverages the full power of machine learning and aids marketers in discovering new content ideas that rank in the results provided by search engines.

There is no space for carelessness in the healthcare sector, especially when the matter is revolving around life and death. In the 21st century, people give their health more priority over hard-earned money, and that’s why they pay a visit to hospitals at regular intervals to ensure everything is fine with their body.

Customarily, a medical facility in the USA is hailed because hospitals over there use state-of-the-art technology to uplift their success rate. When it comes to vanguard technologies, it is nothing less than a crime to forget about artificial intelligence, as this ever-intensifying tech has been acting as a helping hand since its adoption in the medical field.

As per Becker’s Healthcare, applications of artificial intelligence will help, by 2021, the healthcare industry to save $52 billion. In the very same year, the market for AI in healthcare is about to reach $6.6 billion. Another attention-grabbing aspect is that artificial intelligence will help to prevent 57% of different kind of diseases. Now, it should be crystal clear why applications of artificial intelligence are deemed as a helping hand.

Today, we will uncover 4 real-world examples that explain how much AI is required in the health care sector. So, let’s begin:

1. Virtual health assistants

At the present time, the salience of AI-powered healthcare assistants cannot be ignored because they perfectly take care of common tasks such as communicating with patients about the prescribed medicines, giving reminders about appointments, and so on. By means of virtual health assistants, the medical sector saves around $20 billion annually… Jeez! It’s a huge cost saving.

What’s more, virtual nurses offer 24/7 assistance, which could be handy during medical emergencies. In addition, you don’t have to look somewhere else for a piece of advice regarding common medical conditions or diet plans, as virtual assistants will provide quick answers.

Having a word with virtual health assistants isn’t tough, as you can interact with them in a similar way you do with Siri, Alexa, etc.

2. AI-assisted surgery

The major reason why we are so dependent on today’s technology is it helps to do things without putting much effort. In the healthcare sector, one of the most challenging tasks is performing surgery to perfection because any small mistake could put the patient’s life at jeopardy. Thanks to applications of artificial intelligence, surgeons don’t have to stay under the pump any much longer.

Artificial intelligence saves a whopping $40 billion for medical businesses. From analysing pre-op data to guiding a surgeon, applications of artificial intelligence pre-empt unexpected complications as they promise high levels of precision. This leads to two-fold advantages — ‘High success rate’ ‘Low hospital stay,’ etc.

If industry reports are anything to go by, hospital stays decrease up to 21% owing to artificial intelligence. Due to this, medical businesses enjoy fantastic patient loyalty and buttressed brand image.

Thanks to AI-assisted surgery, patients have to bear minimal incisions. Moreover, AI-powered robots scan data from previously performed operations to develop new surgical techniques. By all means, this stops normal surgery to turn into a complicated one.

There’s one study that has revealed 379 orthopedic patients are gratified with AI-based procedures as they ensure 5 times lesser complications, comparing with traditional surgery techniques. HeartLander is a vivid example of robot-assisted surgery.

3. Perfect medical imaging diagnostics

In the healthcare sector, radiology is one of those medical techniques that help doctors to know what wrong is going with patients. Radiology means looking into images to find out the medical issue. X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, etc. are part of radiology.

Earlier, practitioners had to spend significant time looking at images as well as patients. Now, the table has been turned as applications of artificial intelligence ensure perfect medical imaging diagnostics. AI can scan images 1,000 times faster and generate precise results. To leave nothing to chance, results generated by AI get sent to a doctor for crosschecking purpose.

For radiology purpose, AI is being adopted aggressively by most of the hospitals. For instance, ‘University of Rochester Medical Center’ is using tech from an AI radiology company named as ‘Aidoc’ so that critical cases can be handled on a priority.

Barring radiology, artificial intelligence offers great help during the cardiology process by identifying heart-related issues in the preliminary stages, which as a positive consequence, ensures better treatment for patients.

All in all, artificial intelligence has the potential to secure a bright future for the healthcare industry.

Will the healthcare industry grow with AI in the future?

Nowadays, almost every industry is showing great interest in AI, as this tech promises to unlock new possibilities. As we have already seen in the aforementioned pointers, AI is working as a life-changing factor which is making a big positive impact on both doctors and patients’ lives. Owing to its ability to accumulate and analyze a pile of data, AI yields faster and precise diagnosis results.

Due to artificial intelligence, from the business’s perspective, the healthcare sector can save a significant amount of money without compromising with the quality of treatment. Please don’t have any thoughts like — ‘Can AI replace doctors in the future?’ — Because this tech isn’t going to do such thing. On the contrary, an amalgamation of AI and human doctors can possibly secure a bright and healthy future for patients.

“With IoT, we’re headed to a world where things aren’t liable to break catastrophically – or at least, we’ll have a hell of a heads up. We’re headed to a world where our doors unlock when they sense us nearby.”

— Scott Weiss

Do you know the best part of avant-garde technology?

Nope!

Well, it always has something in store to leave us amazed. By all means, today’s technology has made our life easier, but there are several possibilities that are yet to be unlocked.

I ponder the future when such possibilities have been unlocked, what our life is going to be like… I would love to close a door by giving voice commands. Thinking I am daydreaming? Well, pal, this is possible with IoT (internet of things).

What is IoT? Please check out my other write-up:

What Is Internet of Things (IoT)? Here Is A Simple Explanation!

If industry reports are anything to go by, the IoT market has a bright future. According to Gartner, the number of IoT devices is 14.2 billion in 2019 itself, and this number will reach 25 billion by 2021. It is startling, isn’t it?

Today, I am going to lift the curtains from the top 3 IoT trends which you should watch out for. So, let’s roll:

1. Healthcare industry will aim to reap more benefits via IoT

If we talk about one industry which is aggressively investing in cutting-edge technology, be it concerning AI or IoT, then it would only be ‘Healthcare industry.’

For medical business owners, nothing could be more valuable than patients. Only those hospitals witness a heavy footfall of patients, which promise better treatment. Through applications of artificial intelligence, the healthcare industry has really raised the bar.

We are living in a technology-driven world, where multiple things can be done with minimal effort. With every advancement in present technologies, we experience a notable change in our life. Currently, the two buzzwords are — ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ and ‘Internet of Things (IoT).’

But we are still very far from the future that Hollywood’s science-fiction flicks have shown us. I am talking about the future where switching lights off or on can be done with a single snap, where we see driverless cars running on roads, and so on.

By all means, multinational companies in different industries are endeavoring to ring in the future, but they are still far from achieving their goal, unfortunately. As far as patience is concerned, it has never been the strongest virtue of the human race… Jeez! I am not different either.

To speed up the pace, companies are coalescing artificial intelligence and the internet of things. I reckon this fusion will offer great help in the pursuance of bringing the future now.

And if you have been reading my write-ups for months, you should already know that I always add some statistics with the purpose of surprising my readers and maintaining the authenticity of the information I am sharing.

According to Gartner, over 80% of organizations will include an AI component in their IoT projects by 2022, which is amazing as compared to the current scenario where only 10% of companies are doing the same.

Let’s take a look at how the internet of things can do wonders with applications of artificial intelligence:

Devices will be more vocal

Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri are the most common real-time example of how AI and IoT can work together. We all get the royal feeling when our smartphone delivers the desired results on the screen after getting voice commands. But believe me, this is merely a glimpse of what is coming ahead.

To bring self-driving cars into reality, automobile companies like Waymo, Tesla etc. are putting their best foot forward. With the aim of taking the driving experience to a whole new level, a big lump of cash is also being invested in IoT projects.

According to emerging rumors, many car manufacturers are working on virtual assistants that will lend a hand to drivers in the pursuit of driving more safely and conveniently. Devices powered by AIIOT help drivers avert heavy traffic jams, send messages without touching phones, reach the destination faster and safer, etc.

In simple words, an amalgamation of AI and IoT can lead us to the realm where things are more real than ones that stay as part of the fictional world.

Seamless data filtering for outstanding outcomes

‘Do you know how IoT works?’

Nope?

Well, IoT works on a basic principle: when a device is connected to the internet, it sends some data containing digital information. After receiving the pertinent data from another source present somewhere on the web, it acts on the commands of the user.

And the catch here is most of the data collected by IoT devices is of no use. IoT applications like security cameras pass on terabytes of recording data to server or cloud, but relevant video data showing suspicious or illegal activity is usually only within a few megabytes. Wiping out unimportant data is crucial to pre-empting the hassle of server failure.

This is where the salience of applications of artificial intelligence snowballs. You shouldn’t be surprised upon knowing this, because AI has always been known for its data filtering capability, which also helps it learn and become better via machine learning.

Needless to say, when devices start taking care of data storage computations on their own, networks will not be clogged with traffic. Hence, more computing power will be available, which as a positive corollary, leads to outstanding outcomes.

Final thoughts:

One thing I can say for sure is that we are going to have an amazing life as long as today’s current technology is advancing.

It is beyond a shadow of a doubt that the internet of things is impressive and going to stay for ages. However, it can’t do much in the absence of AI.

Of course, both IoT and AI have their importance at the right places. These technologies can do wonders if they get combined, although that’s a challenging task for businesses.

Reality check: There would be no fun without challenges. Here, I recall a quote from Joshua J. Marine:

“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes it meaningful.”

In the same vein, the two major challenges AI is facing in working side by side with IoT are: ‘Compatibility’ and ‘Complexity.’

For common applications like virtual voice assistants, these issues don’t generally arise, as both AI and IoT are 100% compatible with each other. But the situation turns on its head when major projects like self-driving cars come into consideration.

It would be exciting to see how the current situation of integrating AI into the functions of IoT progresses.

At the present time, I guess nobody is unaware of artificial intelligence, as this tech has become very much a part of our daily life. Smartphones are a vivid example.

It has been a while since I have been writing about artificial intelligence, and just when I think nothing is left to cover with regard to AI, then something new comes up and leaves me in awe.

This time I came to know about how much applications of artificial intelligence are involved in the transformation process of the transportation industry… Jeez! Massive breakthroughs are being recorded every passing week and month, owing to AI.

I have rounded up some ways AI is reshaping the face of transportation, so pay heed to the following pointers:

1. Autonomous Cars

There is not much time left when we will see autonomous cars come into reality from the realm of sci-fi. Hollywood flicks like ‘Total Recall (2012)’ have shown what the future is going to be like when avant-garde technology is applied in full swing.

Driverless cars are a dream of automobile lovers, which is about to come true really soon. Corporations like Waymo, Tesla, etc. are investing a big chunk of money to bring autonomous cars to the market so that their customers don’t have to wait any longer.

2. Self-driving Trucks

It may come as a surprise to you that self-driving trucks are well on their way. Autonomous cars have been in the talks, but awareness about self-driving trucks is almost negligible. Thanks to applications of artificial intelligence, self-driving trucks will enter the market in the near future.

Developed countries like the USA have always been known for their cleanliness. Self-driving trucks are just going to make things better as tasks like plowing snow, collecting garbage, etc. will be done without the immersion of humans.

The tech used in these trucks can also be employed in freight. If industry reports are anything to go by, self-driving trucks are able to transport 2,000,000 pallets. It is amazing, isn’t it?

3. Traffic Systems

Heavy traffic jams have always been the factor that causes annoyance to the transportation business owners. Usually, the brand image of many logistic businesses takes the heat due to traffic-related problems.

Traffic jams are quite common in countries with a high population such as India, China, etc. Now, you can guess how difficult life is for the transportation industry in these countries.

Currently, AI-powered mobile apps like Hound are being used to avoid traffic jams and know the best possible route to a specific journey. But such apps are not one-stop solutions to the problems concerning traffic jams.

That is why countries like Singapore, China, etc. are working on AI-enabled traffic management systems that work in a way that pre-empts problems related to jams.

4. Remote-controlled Cargo Ships

After being acquainted with self-driving trucks, now you can easily believe that the applications of artificial intelligence can be used to complete other transportation-related tasks, besides public transportation.

According to Oskar Levander, vice-president of marine innovation at Rolls-Royce, remote-controlled cargo ships will be used for commercial use by 2020. Remote-controlled ships? This has definitely caught you by surprise, as have the thoughts of luxury cars, which start coming up when the name of Rolls-Royce is taken.

For the past few years, Rolls-Royce has been consistently working on crewless cargo ships with the aim to launch them by 2020. Once the remote-controlled ships have been introduced, it is highly possible we will witness fully autonomous ships in the near future.

5. Driverless Trains

Another fabulous thing that AI is going to make possible is a driverless train. This cannot be taken lightly because a large staff that works at different shifts is required to handle rail operations round-the-clock. Once driverless trains clear all crucial tests and are ready to take passengers safely to set destinations, most of the hassle occurring during the rail operations are likely to vanish.

Another amazing benefit that will come with driverless trains is significant space will be freed up, which is usually reserved for the cabins of drivers, ticket inspectors, or other official staff. And this means automated trains will be able to carry more passengers.

This fact will bring a smile to your face: there is no much waiting you have to do, as trials for driverless trains have already begun.

Final few words:

For many years now, artificial intelligence is a part of our life, however, we have barely noticed its salience. With the help of this write-up, I have shared some examples of how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing transportation.

While going through this write-up, you might have thought if everything is going to be automated, what will be the use of humans? Or AI is replacing humans, or killing jobs indirectly? Well, it is vitally important to understand that AI was never meant to be a threat to humans.

Of course, artificial intelligence is taking away mundane jobs, but it is creating better opportunities for humans at the same time too. Even, industries are adopting applications of artificial intelligence to serve customers better, thus, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that AI is poised to make things better for us.

So, if you are impressed with the way AI is revolutionizing transportation or want to tell us some other fascinating examples which I missed mentioning in this write-up, the comment section is where you can share your views with the world.

Recently, my interest shifted from applications of artificial intelligence to IoT (internet of things). After gaining knowledge as to how we’re interacting with chatbots disguised as customer service agents and how AI revolutionizes modern living. I wanted to do the same with IoT. You can call me a technophile or something like that, but getting in-depth with new technology is what I am passionate about.

internet-of-things

These days, IoT has become the talk of the town, because it is making our life easier. If you have a smart device like a smartphone and a good internet connection, you can do several things by putting in negligible effort. For instance, you can know about restaurants near your location by giving voice commands to Google Assistant or Apple’s Siri. It goes way beyond chatbot services and AI-tools commanding our way of life.

Here are some scenarios that may sound like fiction, but are possible with IoT. So, have a look:

  • Your fridge contacts a supermarket and orders vegetables, which you are running out of. And it also sends you a message regarding the order.
  • After waking you up, your alarm clock sends a signal to the geyser to heat water at your preferred temperature or conveys a message to your coffee maker with regard to brewing coffee.
  • Your car sends a message when you are heading back to your home in order to switch on the lights, tune the TV to your liked channel so that you feel welcomed after reaching your house.

There are many other amazing scenarios, which are possible with IoT.

But as we know, nothing is perfect in this world, thus, there is no chance that IoT has no disadvantage, similar to AI-bots AKA chatbots.

” IoT is removing mundane repetitive tasks or creating things that just weren’t possible before, enabling more people to do more rewarding tasks and leaving the machines to do the repetitive jobs.”

― Grant Notman, Head of Sales and Marketing, Wood & Douglas

Of course, I was extolling the advantages of the internet of things in my previous write-ups, but today something different is going to happen as the disadvantages of internet of things will be discussed.

iot-disadvantages

Top 3 Disadvantages of IoT ( Internet of Things ):-

1. Losing control of your life

The major disadvantage you can experience with IoT (internet of things) is losing control of your life. There is no denying that we are very much dependent on today’s technology. From investing in chatbot services to reduce human workload to technology performing small tasks with minimal efforts, it indirectly tells that we are getting handicapped with every new advancement in technology.

By all means, IoT devices are making our life easier, but have you ever thought of what they take in exchange? Still guessing? Well, IoT enabled devices share personal data over the internet, which can be tracked with ease.

From daily routine work to future plans, IoT devices know everything. Therefore, they will keep telling you what you should do and what you shouldn’t. It gives a feeling of being a slave, doesn’t it?

There is a word synonymous to a pill, which is bitter in taste but benefits us in several ways: ‘Limit’. We must limit ourselves while using IoT devices for the sake of averting a life controlled by technology.

2. Yields unemployment

Well, if technology offers us something, it takes something back on a large scale us well, albeit we often don’t realize that.

The disadvantage that both AI and IoT share is yielding unemployment. These technologies take away mundane jobs, which is nothing less than trouble for less educated or low-income level people. Companies, who’ve invested in chatbot services, don’t need employees 24*7 to converse with customers. And it only results in unemployment of the less-educated sector.

According to the latest industry reports, 50% of tasks we do at home can be done through automation within the next 10 years.

For developing countries like India, where lack of entrepreneurship and unemployment is big trouble, IoT can make things more difficult.

3. Lack of security on privacy

Surely, IoT devices give an amazing experience to their users, but security concerns have always revolved around the internet of things. To bring about the desired results, IoT devices first share data over the internet, a place where you will always find hackers in large numbers.

A data breach of any level can disturb the personal life of an individual to an extreme level. To prevent the leakage of data, IoT devices must do information sharing with top-notch encryption. This would definitely take some time to happen.

Another factor that also raises questions with regard to reliability is increased complexity. IoT is a complex and diverse network, which means glitches in applications or failure of an IoT infrastructure can happen. And this can result in serious consequences.

Wrapping up:

It may not be noticed, but IoT is becoming a part of everyone’s life. The involvement of this tech force is just going to increase. In my previous write-ups, I talked about the internet of things in a positive manner.

But this time I have lifted the curtain on the disadvantages of IoT. Obviously, creating a chaotic situation wasn’t the intention, actually, I just wanted to make my readers understand IoT in and out.

Of course, IoT cannot be written off because of some disadvantages, as we will reach nowhere if there is a fear of demerits. By virtue of this write-up, I just tried to shed some light on how much the internet of things can be trusted in the current scenario.

Thanks to advancements in technology, we are having a whale of a time as tasks like banking, shopping, etc. can be done to perfection without putting in much effort.

The smartphone is a phenomenal gift we’ve got from technology.

In this day and age, smartphones are deemed as a virtual friend that not only stays loyal but also helps to do many tasks perfectly, be it chatting on social media platforms, ordering food, or listening to music.

To give a more enriching experience, companies are investing a big chunk of money in mobile app development. In order to up the ante, applications of artificial intelligence are also being deployed.

According to Gartner, 80% of smartphones will exhilarate users, thanks to AI.

Today, I will raise the curtain on the top 5 AI-powered mobile apps that can make your smartphones smarter for sure. So, let’s begin:

1. Recent News

Recent news is an amazing app for those who are passionate about reading. By dint of this app, you can get all the news in which you’re interested. Here, you should thank artificial intelligence, as it analyses your reading habits to provide personalized suggestions.

Recent News also recommends those articles which you may like to follow. Plus, this AI-powered app enables synching so that its users can bookmark all their favorite articles to read later or share with their loved ones.

Another factor you would like to know is this app doesn’t kill your smartphone’s battery when it isn’t being used.

2. Robin

Robin, another voice assistant application of artificial intelligence, is worthy to be installed on the smartphones of those people who drive a lot. By means of this app, while driving, you can write and send a message by simply giving voice commands, get GPS navigation, easily know about traffic statuses, and so on.

This app is like a boon for drivers because it can do many tasks like searching for parking space, getting the latest Twitter news or jokes, etc. amazingly. In a nutshell, you just need to say some specific words to see the magic of Robin.

On the off chance that you are planning a trip and want an indispensable consultant for the sake of not getting lost in the middle of the journey, install Robin on your smartphone right away!

3. Hound

Hound is another crucial AI-driven app you may want on your smartphone. It works like a Google voice search and helps to search the internet through voice instructions. To activate this app, you just need to say two magical words — “Ok Hound.”

Unarguably, Hound is a simple yet the briskest tool to access any information online. Barring this, it also serves purposes related to entertainment, communication, etc. perfectly. Hound brings precise results owing to an amalgamation of speech recognition and NLP (natural language processing) technologies.

Willing to know salient features of hound? Here’s what you can do by your voice:

  • Set an alarm.
  • Schedule reminders in no time.
  • Play your favorite music without touching your smartphone.
  • Book an Uber ride.
  • Search for hotels according to your budget.

4. Siftr Magic

I personally recommend this app to selfie lovers. Siftr Magic offers great help when it comes to removing junk photos. This cannot be overlooked as your phone storage is at stake.

Remember when you went for a trip and clicked so many pictures in order to capture every fun moment? It is pretty obvious you clicked some bad pics which are still stored in your phone’s gallery.

High definition pictures always consume space in MBs, which can cause unnecessary storage problems later if you have a smartphone with 16GB or 32GB ROM.

Siftr Magic, a popular application of artificial intelligence, detects cluttered photos stored on your phone to clear space. This app examines pictures by running AI algorithms at the backend and generates results rapidly at the frontend.

Of course, you can select pictures manually for deletion, but there is no point in doing that as Siftr Magic is present to do the job for you.

5. Socratic

To understand the salience of Socratic, you need to remember your school days when solving algebra problems was an uphill task.

For me, the most frustrating moment was when I got the wrong answer after wasting so much time on a particular math problem.

These days parents spend extra money on tuitions so that their children face no math-related problems. As we already know, mathematics is as stubborn as it was.

This is where Socratic, an application of artificial intelligence, appears as a lifesaver for those students who are not good at maths.

To reap benefits via this smart tutor app, all you need to do is take a picture of your homework via your smartphone. After that, this app will use artificial intelligence algorithms to do analysis and then provide precise solutions along with videos to clear doubts and improve basics.

In simple words, Socratic helps students to get their homework done properly and in a short time span. Barring maths, this smart app can help students with many different subjects, such as:

  • Chemistry
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Physics
  • English grammar
  • Calculus
  • History
  • Psychology

The company Socratic belongs to claim that this smart app uses cutting-edge computer vision technology to read questions from images. Thanks to machine learning classifiers, Socratic predicts which concepts will help students to get an answer to a particular question.

So, install this app on your smartphone to let your children shine in their school’s classes!

Final few words

In this modern era, technology is playing a pivotal role in making our life easier. Smartphones are a great example of how technology has changed our lives completely. And ‘keep improving’ is what the human race has always aimed for. Thus, we are likely to witness big advancements in technology in the near future.

With the help of this write-up, I revealed some applications of artificial intelligence, which can make smartphones smarter. I hope you will give a try to these apps to experience the magic of AI. In case you want to how artificial intelligence is helping businesses in different industries.

2. Paring hiring time

From the business’s perspective, time is money. Therefore, everything from shortlisting potential candidates to interviewing them should be done as soon as possible, because the long hiring process negatively affects the business’s bottom line.

The fact that will leave you open-mouthed is sometimes recruiting a single candidate takes up to 2 months, although this depends on the size of the company.

The top 3 time-consuming recruitment tasks are:

  • Screening resumes.
  • Candidate nurturing.
  • Shortlisting of candidates.

By God’s grace, these 3 tasks can easily be automated. By virtue of AI-driven hiring tools, businesses not only enjoy seamless on-boarding but also save a significant amount of time.

3. Candidate matching

At the present time, so many new technologies are coming up, thereby, companies are often found themselves in a search of a perfect job candidate, who can fit rightly according to business requirements.

However, the main problem is that once you list your company is hiring on job portals, you’ll be snowed under job applications in no time, ergo, it gets hard to find an exact match. By all means, applications of artificial intelligence can solve this conundrum.

Recently, LinkedIn presented ‘Recommended Matches’ feature, which suggests those candidates who can be the right fit. This significantly helps in candidate matching, which as a positive outcome, makes the life of HRs easier.

Besides easier recruiting, LinkedIn’s recommended matches feature offers job seekers great help, as they also see pertinent jobs on their profile.

4. Puts a full stop on biased hiring – extremely relevant

Biased hiring is what makes recruitment field ill-famed because rejecting a nimble employee over one you know as a friend or relative isn’t good by any means. Plus, a business also struggles when an average employee falls behind while working in a result-oriented environment.

Thus, it is extremely important to pre-empt biased hiring. In doing this, applications of AI can lend a hand. Textio is a vivid example of this, as it helps to make a good hire. Many companies have come forward and embraced AI-driven hiring tools in the pursuance of a bias-free recruitment process.

Big names like Vodafone, Unilever, etc. appoint those candidates, who have scored good numbers in AI-based game designed by Pymetrics.

The future of AI in the recruitment field

Applications of artificial intelligence have done wonders where they have been used. There is a likelihood the future of AI in recruitment and talent acquisition is going to be brighter. Does that mean AI will wipe out the existence of human recruiters? No, AI was never meant to replace humans, however, it will properly take mundane jobs away from humans at some point in time.

So, there is nothing to fear of artificial intelligence. Instead of fearing, if you imagine both human and artificial intelligence are working in a collaboration, you are likely to paint a picture of a bright future in your mind.
